Is northwest indiana considered chicagoland?

Chicagoland is located along the north and center of Illinois, southeast of Wisconsin and northwest of Indiana. Some parts of Wisconsin and Indiana are sometimes included in the Chicago definition of an area. According to the United States Census Bureau, Chicago encompasses northwestern Indiana and some parts of southeastern Wisconsin as well. Northwest Indiana is comprised of Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Newton and Jasper Counties in Indiana.

This region is bordered by Lake Michigan and is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. Northwest Indiana is the second largest urban area in the state after the Indianapolis metropolitan area. In addition, northwestern Indiana is close to many other universities in other parts of Indiana and in the Chicago metropolitan area.
